"A Voice of the Voiceless"
The Animal Kingdom needs this voice for a multitude of reasons!
We are international in scope and nature, while being disciples of the many who have come before us, to assure a quality of life without pain for all the members of the Animal Kingdom!
Whether it be companion animal; farm animal; zoo species; aquaria; avian; or wildlife the veterinary community has taken an oath to bring the most up to date medical and surgical care to these species; and prevent extinction with habitat adjustment and sanctuary creation.
The Global Veterinary Ethics Congress is creating an on-going discussion with One Health to be sure that veterinary medicine continues a strong union with human medicine. This has many sub-divisions including innovations in care; world health; and research. The Global Veterinary Ethics Congress does all of this with a mission of Empathy and Compassion.
As the GVEC continues to grow internationally, our voice will become a message board of positive change! One of our mantras is "Only Positive Thoughts Guide Us To New Heights."
The United States has become a split country after this recent Presidential election. I read terrible comments about our present President and our proposed President elect. It is not just negativity but the words chosen by top dignitaries of each party are appalling. The media and social platforms have contributed to this hate in America. I am not here to judge our President or President elect but only to state the obvious....."Only Positive Thoughts Guide Us to New Heights!
We are living in a pandemic that has changed our way of life. Social distancing; masks; loss of life; and new waves of infection are part of our daily lives.
Our clients are not working; some have lost their businesses; and the veterinary world has had to adapt. Curbside care; telemedicine; and following comprehensive CDC Guidelines are just a few changes noted in companion animal practice. All of the Animal Kingdom has faced major changes in care during this time of pandemic.
The pandemic has brought fear, anxiety, and loss of our loved ones. The confinement has added to mental health issues and alcohol abuse. With an international vaccination program lurking, there is light at the end of this ugly subterranean tunnel in which we are being held captive.
"Only Positive Thoughts Guide us to New Heights" and will allow us to become free from the prison of the pandemic. We pray as Christian, Jew, and atheist for the loved ones lost and those left behind living in great pain because of COVID-19.
Finding the Meaning of Life:
We lost a Canadian born and American adopted beacon of light in Alex Trebec this past weekend.
I will not repeat his biography but I will tell you something about his life besides being the host of "Jeopardy" for 36 years.
